Wu Ji, chairman and CEO is one of the core leaders in the field of space science in China and was the director of the National Space Science Center, CAS (2003-2017). During this period, he served as chief designer of the application system of the earth space double star exploration program, chief scientist of the China-Russia joint mars exploration program (Yinghuo-1), the project manager of the payloads of Chang'e-1 and Chang'e-3, and also the chief manager of the strategic priority program on space science of CAS, which includes the Quantum Experiments at Space Scale (QUESS) and the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE), etc. He was listed as one of the top 10 Chinese science stars by Nature in 2016. He has also served as the vice president of the Committee for Space Research (COSPAR) (2010-2018) and leading positions of several other international organizations. He is now a member of the Space Resource Utilization Advisory Committee of Luxembourg Government, a member of the International Advisory Committee of the UAE Space Agency, full member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE), and the president of the Chinese Society of Space Science.
